This has to be one of the daftest song titles ever, but boy what a song this is! Although it probably got its success because of the humour in the title, making it instantly memorable despite its length, it is nevertheless a classy piece of work. Heavily influenced by country music (there is a country version on the B-Side of my copy), the premise revolves around a woman whose celebrity lover she suspects is being dishonest and unfaithful, hence the comparison with the lying Elvis impersonator down the chip shop (unless you are one of those who really believes Elvis is not dead). There is a great guitar solo in the middle too and the overdubs of the male Elvis impersonator at the end just makes the whole thing.
