Mr. Burnside is a bit of an anomaly in blues music. He comes from the home of Mississippi blues and is one of the last remaining connections to all the original bluesmen. That alone would be enough to keep plugging away but R.L. ran into the likes of Jon Spencer and his Blues Explosion and saw that there was a completely different world out there that he could tap into. Ever since the collaboration A Ass Pocket of Whiskey that he did with the Blues Explosion he has been pushin blues into even more diverse territories while keeping the link to traditional blues alive. On Wish I Was In Heaven Sitting Down, R.L. Burnsides proper followup to the groundbreaking Come on In with Tom Rothrock, R.L. chooses to lay back a bit but don't worry because the scratching is still here. Provided mainly by Beck's DJ, DJ Swamp, the scratches are kept down in the mix a bit as to not overwhelm. R.L. chooses to do a killer version of "Chain of Fools". Burnside's voice remains intact well into his 70's. Three bonus tracks from other Fat Possum artists can be found at the end of the disc as well.
