T-Bone Walker can safely lay claim to being the founder of the style of Blues which became known as Texas blues and which became such an influence on those who came after him. U.P. Wilson and above all B.B. King owe a huge debt to the music of Walker. "Mean Old World" is perhaps his finest moment. The jazz-influenced guitar playing and unemotional vocal style were to provide a kind of missing link between the blues of the south and the electric Chicago blues of people like Muddy Waters. Given that this song contains a very early use of electric guitar, it is well worth checking out to see where the antecedents of that rock staple of today lie.
