Big Sandy has been doing his rockabilly and western swing thing for quite some time now with much success (almost 10 years now). If you have never experienced Big Sandy, there is no better time than now. Night Tide is a bit of a moody affair but it's delicious and meaty. If it wasn't for the great swingin' sounds of his Fly-Rite boys, ol' Big Sandy would be stuck in a dark pool of despair. One of my favorites is "Tequila Calling" which features a bit of a tex-mex flavour to it while paying tribute to the infamous alcohol. The Fly-Rite boys consist of a steel guitar player, bass, guitar and drums as well as Big Sandy's great guitar playing. This is great traditional swinging country which you won't find very much today.
