This haunting yet beautiful debut from the Memphis, TN group, The Satyrs, is everything that the drug hazed bands of the early 70's aspired to be. Lead singer, Jason Paxton, has a voice that is eerily similar to the late Jim Morrison and the Morrison wannabe, Tea Party's Jeff Martin. The band manages to mesmerize the listener the way a snake charmer does a vicious cobra. Only a three piece, the Satyrs often sound like a full orchestration proving that they really know their instruments and get the fullest sound from them. More than once did a chill run down my spine with the sprawling beauty of Jason Paxton's voice; especially with the romatic ballad "With You". The band may not go huge but it will find a place in many a listeners heart. This is music for the soul.
