This single showed me that REO Speedwagon had no future - at least not in my collection. Basically, they were never anything more than soft rock staples, able to put out what seemed like an endless succession of mildly memorable but musically forgettable power ballads aimed at the hearts of teenagers and housewives. They had taken a formula, perfected it in their own way and kept repeating it, churning out a new hit each time but never really saying much. Yes it was catchy, but it was never that good. Once you came to realise that this was nothing more than music by numbers you soon moved on.
