For their latest installment of the amazing Traveler series, Six Degrees goes all over the world collecting the best from their label in all shapes and sizes. You may recall some of these tracks from releases this year already such as dZihan & Kamien, Euphoria, and State of Bengal. The whole concept behind Six Degrees records is to sign artists from around the world who take music from their cultures and incorporate it into a dance style or electronica style. If you are aware of any of the artists on this compilation you will know what it’s all about. It’s all about fusion and using music as the global language that it is. One track that sticks out is one from label newcomers, Batidos, who consists of Jay Rodriguez of the Groove Collective. Another sneak preview is the track by Karsh Kale who has worked with Talvin Singh and Bill Laswell. His album is due out later this year. Most of the other tracks are all remixes of previously released songs. In the end, Traveler ’01 proves that Six Degrees records has a vision of bringing different music to the masses and that they are succeeding in searching out these like minded artists.
