Mauro Remiddi, aka Porcelain Raft, after long string of excellent singles and EP's this year and earlier, has finally seen his vision encompassed a debut album.
The general style of the album is dreamy sort of pop, accentuated by samples of echoing drum beats, and with the honest soaring vocals of Mauro. This works particularly well on woozy starting track, Drifting in and Out, and the propulsive standout Put Me to Sleep. Slower ballads such as the swooning single, Unless You Speak From Your Heart, and the percussion based folk of shapeless gone are other highlights.
Overall, a very strong debut, the languid rythms are perfect for remiddi's vocals and atmospherics. One point of contention however, is that clocking in at around 34 minutes seems a bit slight.
