Peter Tosh got his nickname of Steppin' Razor from this track, originally recorded by the Wailers. The title refers to Jamaican slang for a dangerous person, quick to pull a knife in a fight. Quite why Tosh would want a reputation like that is somewhere beyond me but there you go.
It starts off with a very peculiar opening the song sung as if it were a white man's balled comes across the radio before Tosh springs in and takes the song down a reggae path. The jaunty guitar line is the definite highlight of the track which is, without doubt, my all time favourite reggae song.
