I used to have a mobile phone contract with Vodafone. I did so because I got a good deal off them. I seriously considered changing it when Vodafone used one of my all time favourite songs -" Another Girl Another Planet " - as a jingle for one of their advertising campaigns. Maybe they realised their error for pretty quickly they dropped the original and replaced it with a god-awful cover version. Trouble is, Vodafone have a habit of doing this.
The Mock Turtles' suffered (or benefitted) from this practice. "Can You Dig It?" was a minor hit until Vodafone picked it up and ran a campaign with it as a jingle. Luckily, I had encountered it on its own merits before Vodafone tried to spoil it. An up-beat, happy little tune with a hint of psychedelia (as is so often the case with songs Vodafone use as jingles) it is well worth considering on its own merits and ignoring any associations it may carry with it.
I no longer have a contract with Vodafone, but that has nothing to do with their jingles.
