I dont know what it is about Australian bands of the late eighties, but I struggled with all of the main ones. The Church I found wanting; and the Go-Betweens never seemed to quite hit the mark. Only the Triffids made any lasting impression, and it was always an uphill battle with them. But there can be no doubt that "Streets of Your Town" was the best of the output of the Go-Betweens. An up-beat, cheery pop song with some great vocal harmonies and guitar work and a nice catchy melody, this for me was as good as the band got. It is a pity that I could never find the same enthusiasm for other work of theirs.
