RecommendThis album opens with a track called "Tranquila" from Luis Vargas that just smokes! I could stop right here and tell you to buy the album just for this song but the rest of the album is no slacker either. Sometimes overlooked for it's rich musical heritage, the Dominican Republic has just as much talent on it's shores as Cuba or Puerto Rico. The style is much the same as the Cuban music that has invaded the charts. This music is a bit different with the party and festive feelings that it is able to evoke. It has been called bachata and is a mix of Africa, South American and Spanish flavours. Put this on when your feeling tropical but don't forget your sunscreen.
