If you have ever been down south to Mexico you will recall the charming music that the nation relishes in. It is heartfelt as well as time honored in its presentation. People maintain the culture through their music, much like some European cultures and the artists can become superstars just in their own nation. Putumayo has ventured into the Mexican music territory with their new international series. Simply titled Mexico, the album takes a traditional as well as more modern take on the Mexican musical front with mostly new discoveries such as La Calaca, Comjunto Jardin, and Lila Downs just to name a few. You will also find international superstars Los Lobos contributing a track entitled “Flor de Huevo which is more traditional than the band is used to. As well, you will find Lhasa who as well is American but has strong Mexican roots. With the amazingly in depth liner notes that Putumayo is known for in Spanish and English, this is sure to be a hit all across North America.
