Talk Talk have a reputation for many a music fan based primarily on their later albums which achieved almost no recognition when released. Lauded, perhaps because they were so overlooked (the revamped imperial wardrobe syndrome analogy may be usefully employed here if it were not so overused), their earlier work has gone under-appreciated. A fine album of synth pop such as their first can surely hardly be said to be so deficient that it merits the slagging off it often receives. Now whether "It's My Life" suffers from the same oversight, or that people are more familiar with and therefore have a (much deserved I will say) loathing for the cover version done by No Doubt, I cannot say. But "It's My Life" is a fine synth pop song. Maybe it suffers from being not all that different in style to the singles released off the first album, but that is not enough to mark this down. So I wont.
