James Brown sets out to prove hes a mans man with this song. No exploring his female side for Jimmy Boy, here, just pure machismo. Yep, it is a man's world even though a man needs a woman to make his world complete. You have to be glad that songs like these were written and performed in the sixties because, had they not been, they would never have seen the light of the day two or three decades later in a world where political correctness is more important than musical quality. Yet this is quite a mournful song, almost lamenting of the fact that it is a man's world. Perhaps the Godfather of Soul was not as comfortable with his male superiority as we might have thought.
