Together with "My Generation", which was released on the same album, "The Kids Are Alright" became two of the Who's most anthemic songs for the mod movement of the mid 1960's. It even gave its name to the 1979 documentary made about the band and featured on the album "Quadrophenia". Not as good as "My Generation", it is not difficult though to see why the song should become so popular appealing, as it did, straight to the disaffected teenagers of its day and providing them with a message and meaning for themselves and their own identity. Not surprisingly, it featured as a favourite Who track live right up until the end.
