I'm not Jewish but I sure enjoy their music. It is one of the most lively styles of ethnic musics that I have ever heard. Jewish Odyssey contains both the Jewish styles of Sephardic and Klezmer and does a fine job documenting it in this 11 track compilation. Although the artists here can not really be called "traditionalists" but they are all inspired by and have Jewish roots. The ever enigmatic Klezmatics make an appearance with Chava Alberstein who is a traditionalist from Israel. The late Ofra Haza is included as well with a track called "Rachamim". The liner notes in A Jewish Odyssey are very extensive featuring write-ups on all the included artists and Jewish music itself. This is one of the best Putumayo releases yet.
