Just in case the punks ever thought they had a monopoly on snappy, energetic numbers, I would suggest that they listen to this. " I Can't Explain" was the first single put out by the Who as the Who. It crackles with pent up enthusiasm and rips along at a cracking pace, typical of a lot of the white R&B influenced music which dominated the UK music scene at the time. That guitar hook shows everything that Pete Townshend was all about and has been copied more times than almost any other (bass line from Muddy's Mannish Boy excepted). They don't make records like this any more.
