With the punk label Victory Records making the foray into world music they have decided to hit on the Reggae world. Hey Punk, Get Riddim is their contribution to the budding Reggae scene and their attempt to sway punk kids into the ever expanding, and oft borrowed from in the punk scene, world of reggae. This is no soft lesson either. There are some of the hottest artists in reggae today such as Sizzla, Gregory Isaacs, Black Uhuru, Isreal Vibration, and Culture. If you think that reggae begins and ends with Bob Marley you best be thinking again. This compilation shows the broad style that can be lumped into the reggae genre. When you think about how much that punk borrows from reggae and some of the kids still have no idea what it’s all about, it’s a market just waiting to be tapped. Ska Core is just the beginning. When the kids get a hold of Hey Punk, Get Riddim I think there will be a few more punks reaching for more of the reggae. Good work Victory.
