Ellie Goulding is another example of an English female musician breaking the barriers into the American music scene. Lights was released in the UK in March 2010 and then re-released in the US nine months later.

Lights (or Bright Lights depending on which version you have) is not for everyone, but if you can look past the overly used beats and instances of auto-tune, you will discover a lovely upbeat pop album. The first songs will entice you enough to listen to the rest of the album. The slower and piano driven, The Writer and Your Song enhances the vocal beauty of what Lights secretly has to offer.

The lead single, Lights, is one of the top songs off the album. One cannot help but dance to this song. Although I am not a huge remix fan, Bassnectar remixed Lights and it is worth a listen.

Guns and Horses, Under the Sheets, Human and Animal are a few of the better tracks off the album. Sexy and dark. Two of my favorite qualities.

Lyrically, Goulding deserves an A+. You have stolen all my senses/Theres a fever in my heart& So I will take away my feeling/I will be an animal. She has all the ingredients for a great album. I wish there were more slow songs that really let listeners hear HER.
