It didn't take long for Six Degrees to realize that they were onto something with their African Frikyiwa Collection they released earlier this year. Frederic Galliano's main idea with this little excursion is to bring African music to the western cultures dance floors. He actually hand picked his remixers and producers in order to ensure a quality product. Most of the original African artists that have been remixed here would have probably never seen any exposure any other way. The amazing thing with Frikyiwa is that the original music never loses any of it's initial charm. It only garners more with the addition of electronics and drums. On this volume the remixers take a few more risks and it pays of with a completely different sounding album resulting. This is one album that one cannot just listen to, one must experience it. It really is an uplifting album proving that cultures can easily work and meld together.
