The Sandkings were one of those forgotten jangle pop bands which sprung up all across the country in the mid- to late-eighties. Originally from Wolverhampton, "Rain" was issued on their own Long Beach Label and was the only single they released to feature the original vocalist, Andy Parton. Without doubt it was their finest track as well. Full of all the sprightliness and joys of life than made jangle pop such an upbeat style of music. Sadly, the band split after four years and only minor commercial success. These days, the original single is as rare as the teeth of a hen and the Sandkings only exist in the memories of the few who paid them any attention in the first place.
