After getting a boost from his nephew Tricky (more from name throwing than anything), Finley takes off in a brand new direction with Vanguard. Although not entirely abandoning his dub feel of Maverick A Strike, Quaye has written more of a pop / roots album this time around. He downright rocks on a couple of the tracks. Some of the dub inflected tracks are "The Emperor" and "British Air Rage". But you must step aside for the fantastic powerful single "Spiritualized" which is really hard to pin point any blatant influences here. He hit's again with the next racks "The Emperor" which is a little more soulful. Then before you know it "Burning" brings Quaye right back to a dub reggae track. Although Finley doesn't always hit the nail on the head with his music he does have some pretty cool songs under his belt.
