Arthur Crudup was a significant influence on many people, including the early rock and rollers. Elvis covered three Crudup songs and if you recognize "That's All Right", well there's no coincidence there - it was one of them. A product of the Clarksdale scene which spawned so many other famous bluesmen, Crudup set out for Chicago early and, after an initial period of hard times, finally made the grade by linking up with Tampa Red. Strangely, in the sixties, he went back to the south to work again as an agricultural labourer. The B-Side is an interesting little song, featuring some great guitar work, about what goes on when the lights go out.
