I was never really a great fan of Pink Floyd. And after the release of "Dark Side of the Moon" I found that too much guff was talked about them by fans that it became ever more difficult to enjoy the music for what it was. Not surprisingly therefore, I only have one Pink Floyd album in my collection. Rarely, after that 1975 purchase, did I venture back into their world.
However, if I had to make an exception, it was inevitably going to be for "Comfortably Numb". Ironically, I first heard it as an awful cover version. The discovery that what I had heard was not the original caused me to search out the original to see if it was better. Of course, it was. Considerably so. I am not one of those who claim that this is the greatest song ever written, but I will say that it is the best of Pink Floyd's output. You get not one but two guitar solos, the second of which alone is worth the price of a download.
