RecommendFor Janet Weiss and Sam Coomes, the duo that comprises Quasi, they have pulled all the stops for their third album, The Sword of God. Is this their best album as Quasi? Time will be the test but upon first listen, Sword of God is a very extravagant affair. It starts off with the no holds barred “Fuck Hollywood� and then picks up the pieces left over with “It’s Raining�, one of the best Quasi tracks ever. In fact, Sam’s vocals are sounding better than ever. On the title track, my personal favorite, his vocals blend with Janet’s and create a soothing pop sensation. Sam has obviously been taking some writing lessons from his buddy Elliott Smith. This album gives Janet and Sam a purpose to carry on and should fill them with an air of satisfaction.
