The Flamin Groovies staked their claim to be the godfathers of British punk with this classic garage track. Issued around the time the first punks were beginning to emerge from out of the woodwork, this track was a typical example of the Groovies work. Dominated by a driving guitar playing some simple riffs, it is hardly surprising that, around this time, I saw a number of no hope punk outfits who played (admittedly poor) versions of this among their covers. As usual, the songs production carries a mixture of quality and sleaze in terms of the impression it creates. As much at home in the middle class bedroom as the shabby streets of New York, this is the Flamin' Groovies at their best.
