Yazoo is known for their one of a kind recordings and all of the recordings on this album were done between 1928 and 1934 all remastered from old '78s (therefore nice and crackly. Blackwell performed mostly by himself but later hooked up with pianist Leroy Carr. Blackwell was a phenomenal guitar player for the time. So good, in fact, that some even credit him for creating the "Chicago" electric blues sound. After taking a 10 year hiatus from recording and performing in the '40s he was rediscovered and started recording again. He then died tragically in '62 as a victim of an unsolved murder. Just one more legend in blues sad past.
