This is a jazz CD that was not easy for me to review. The music is played so beautifully and professionally that it is hard to write any intelligent note about it.
This is an album of all original tracks composed by Assaf Kehati, a guitarist from Israel. His quartet is formed with Alon Farber on saxophone, Daniel Sapir on bass and Udi Shlomo on drums. This is his second release but the quality let us foresee a long and prosperous career.
They play with verve and swing painting seven pieces with purely jazz colors and a touch of pop and blues. The tracks are highly orchestrated but leave all the same some space for improvisation. What I can personally feel when listening to his guitar is the presence of inspiration and love for the music.
Assaf guitar playing is pleasantly dreamy and rhythmically engaging.
I appreciated the saxophone parts as they bring the CD to a higher and sophisticated level. The rhythm section must be praised as well as they bring energy and create a perfect blend.
This CD is surely not for everyone, but it will please the ears of all musicians and people who like to get lost in their dreams while listening to marvelous played musical pieces.
