In the days before Deep Purple became the Deep Purple we all knew and loved, they were a mediocre psychedelic band whose members collectively sported the worst hairdos that side of a Flock of Seagulls. Their earlier output was largely eclipsed by their later hard rock stuff, but if there is one track which stands out from that era it is "Hush". This is the re-recorded version from twenty years later, and it certainly sounds a lot better. It has been given a rockier makeover but, above all, the vocals are an immense improvement on the original. That hook line still stands out and, I have to say, this is another song drilled into my poor long-suffering head by another damn car commercial.
