Strange Commodity has received 5-6 spins on my player today. It takes me back to when an album was completely listenable from start to finish. It is truly an "all killer, no filler" recording, which is a rarity in age of itunes. My favorite track is "Stranger". It has a simple hook on top of a hard funky beat with some grit. The Melodies experiment with Reggae, Hard Rock, and Folk on this debut, but each song is clearly their own. There are uplifting moments of beauty, theme song intrumentals, melancholy love tales, and even a rap song. I strongly recommend picking this one up and giving it a few listens on your headphones to pick up on the field recordings or creative instrumentation used throughout the record.
