Notwist is one of those bands that no matter how many people find out about they will always remain a secret. This goes down as my favorite album of 1998 even though I discovered it in '99. Hailing from Germany, these guys mix techno sensibilities with sugary pop licks. Some jazz elements are present as well. "Chemicals" starts out with repetitive static resulting in a catchy pop ditty that will stick in your mind for days. The way they mix thier pop and electronic bleeps works very well. One of those albums you have to hear to believe. (If you can still find it).
