I was whining a while back after I saw the fabulous Herbaliser show that the band had to put out an album of their live stuff. It is so completely different from what their regular albums sound like. Well, they must of heard me because here it is. Jake Wherry and DJ Ollie Teeba are joined by a full band as they go through most of their favorite tracks sans vocals. The funk is unreal and the whole overtone is fairly dark. They groove with the band and make some rare grooves that hardly ever get out on cd. Although Session One was recorded in a studio it still captures what their live show is all about. It’s about good times and good grooves. DJ Ollie Teeba’s turntables don’t even seem out of place amongst all the other instruments; a sign of an amazing DJ. Wherry’s bass is the centerpoint though as Jake funks it up big time. A great addition to either a Herbaliser fan or even if your into groovy funk.
