By the mid-seventies the Who had rather lost their way. It was almost as if the immense creative effort in producing classic tracks such as "Baba ORiley" and "Won't Get Fooled Again" had drained the band of so much energy that they could not stir themselves. This single, from the 1975 album of the same title, was a rare departure from that position. It did not start promising, with a rather cliched synthesiser introduction followed by loose male harmonies. But it improved and in the end turned into a thoroughly enjoyable tune in the vein of some of their earlier classics. Never mind that this later turned up as the theme tune for the popular American TV drama "CSI", this song has lasted because it is good, and that was a rarity among Who tracks in the seventies.
