The influence of the Yardbirds on music is something which is, quite erroneously, seriously underestimated. Quite apart from the fact that Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page passed through the ranks of the band, resulting in some serious innovation (the use of twin lead guitars on " Stroll On" or the first recording of a bow being used on a guitar on "Glimpses" ), the Yardbirds played some stunning rhythm and blues influenced pop music. Their efforts to bring rhythm and blues across to the mainstream may not have had the success that the Stones did, but they did produce some excellent tracks in the process. " Happenings Ten Years Time Ago" was just one of those tracks, a neat little number with some excellent guitar work and clever lyrics. I strongly suggest you don't overlook this one.
