RecommendPutumayo is stepping up to celebrate all the annual festivals and carnivals around this big rock of ours. In classic Putumayo fashion they manage to do it and make it all seem natural. The trip around from Brazil and then head north to New Orleans for Eddie Bo's Mardi Gras tune. Other countries represented here are Trinidad, Barbados, Haiti, Cuba and Columbia. This album is all about the Carnival or group celebration. All of the artists included on this upbeat compilation are legendary carnival figures even though I have heard of almost none of them. This lack of recognition is in no way related to the quality of the material because Putumayo will not even look at the artist if it is not top notch. Enjoy this celebration while you imagine the warm tropical climate that these songs evoke.
