You may recall a couple of years ago when an unexpected underground hit came from Bombay The Hardway. India’s Bollywood is back with another dose of their sitar tinged spy movie theme music. The now popular Dan the Automator was the brain behind the brilliant mixing and sampling done on the first volume, and due to its extreme popularity the folks at Motel Records have gathered some more master tapes of the cheesiest Bollywood flicks they could track down. This time, though, they have invited an assortment of DJ’s to help them splice the 15 – 30 second clips together into a listenable compendium of the genres music. DJMEDJYOU helps out, along with Mixmaster Mike and Kid Koala among others. You can only laugh at some of the names that they have come up with too like “Sexy Mother Fakir, “T.J. Hookah, “Basmati Beatdown, and my favorite “Dil Street Blues. This album goes beyond just being a novelty item and almost declares itself an essential album that collects some of the most outrageous music to ever come out of India.
