John Lydon's snarling put down of Malcolm McLaren and the cynical exploitation of Lydon and his fellow Pistols, this single saw Lydon break free of the hyped mania that was the Sex Pistols. This was a good start - rumbling bass and drums, sparse guitars very much presaging the post punks and Lydon's sneering vocals. In truth though, Public Image Ltd. never lived up to the promise of this track. Lydon aged into the Grand-Dame of the new wave, a role he plays to perfection even today, and Public Image Limited occasionally put out an album or a single, but most were deservedly overlooked.
