Big Country did a number of extended versions of their singles which they later put out on a single compilation. In almost all cases they were better than the studio version. " East of Eden" , though far from my favourite Big Country track, is a typical example of this phenomenal phenomenon. I tend to regard this track as one of the weakest though to go through this process. Other Big Country tracks subjected to this remixing had an anthemic quality about them which made them rise above the banal and into the sublime. East of Eden seemed to lack that, hence the lower rating. I just wish that Big Country had done a remix of Porrohman , for that would be something well worth hearing.
