The Be Good Tanyas are really gaining recognition for themselves. It all started with their debut album, Blue Horse, and they are ready with their much anticipated sophomore album. They signed a deal for distribution of Blue Horse and that’s who funded Chinatown. The three Vancouverites–Frasey Ford, Samantha Parton, and Trish Klein–are all multi-instrumentalists and amazing songwriters. The Be Good Tanyas were not only loved in their own country but worldwide. They had great press in CMJ, Mojo, Rolling Stone and Country Music Weekly. Chinatown is about to put the girls up a notch. Their music is very sparse but the arrangements are sublime. The girls harmonize beautifully together and the songwriting is world class. They took time recording this album, choosing not to record it all at one session. A couple of covers were thrown in for good measure as well and they picked some great classics: “House of the Rising Sun, “In My Time Of Dying, and a Townes Van Zandt track called “Waiting Around To Die. Chinatown is a success and The Be Good Tanyas are bound to get praise for this album as well.
