Nasty On - Citysick
Nasty On impressed me a fair bit with their Lester Bangs EP that they released last year. Apparently, they were only in the studio for 2 days recording that EP so they decided to try it again for Citysick. The band was not at all happy with the results. They scrapped those sessions at sat down to try and perfect some songs from their earlier sessions and some new ones. Citysick was born and man was it worth the extra time and energy. It’s a powerful album that ranks up with some of the other garage rock that’s coming out today: The Hives, The White Stripes etc. and they are Canadian! They come onto the rock scene from Vancouver, B.C. and they are about to take on the world. Jason Grimmer spits out the vocals with style and a vengence. The music is intense and catchy at the same time. Just listen to the title track (track 1) and you will figure out what you’re up for. I unfortunately missed their last show here in Calgary but heard that it was a blast.
