The Vancouver based Nasty On has unleashed its terror onto the unsuspecting with their Lester Bangs EP. Yes, it’s somewhat of a tribute to the late rock critic (he adorns the cover wearing his famous “Last of the White Niggers� t-shirt). Lester was really hot on the whole Detroit sound that was coming from the Stooges and MC5 so that’s what type of music you can expect from Nasty On. Is it good? Hell ya! This is one of the coolest retro rock outfits I have seen in a while and they aren’t about to go anywhere either. They are all set to release their full length later this year. So Lester Bangs is only a preview of what’s to come. The title track is talking about buying everything that Lester ever wrote about and it rocks pretty heavy too. The album has a bit of a mellow side as well with “Girl, I won’t come over� but the rest of the album rocks hard. I have heard that their live show is a live cracker too so check them out.
