I was a little disappointed with this album. Thought her work with Floetry was brilliant but this felt short of my expectations. There were good songs interspersed like "Far Away", "With You" and "I Want You to Stay" but wasn't her best work.

"I lost a friend and I've had friends that have attempted suicide. By being honest and aware in her approach to creating timeless music, Late Nights & Early Mornings offers a candid glimpse of Marshas life and perspectives as she takes the reigns as the primary songwriter and producer of the album. Collaborations with musical peers Alicia Keys, Dre & Vidal (producers of Say Yes), Just Blaze and more add a raw and edgy vibe to the reflective and soulful album.

Inspired by musical icons like Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Prince, she concedes there is an overall male influence in her songwriting, such as the assertive sentiments heard on Hope She Cheats On You (With A Basketball Player), Your Hands, The Break Up Song and the albums title track Late Nights & Early Mornings. She explains, My pen and my point of view has a certain aggression to it because Ive listened to a lot of male influenced music, which I think makes me one of the most outspoken writers out here. Sometimes as a woman you dont wanna say whats on your mind for fear of being judged. But why wouldnt I say it like that if thats how I felt?
