Morsel is an interesting amalgamation of musical styles. They mix some interesting and creative beats into what could be considered average fare indie pop. This is their third full-length album and it is quite a feat. The band (Miriam Cabrera on vocals and flute, Be Hussy on drums and bass, Jason Burbo on guitar, Fathead on electronics and didjeridoo, and Joshua Pardon on bass and electronics) creates what could sometimes be thought of as a spastic mix of electronics and instruments. The best track on the album is “Meadow, which is one of the songs that are a dead ringer for a Sneaker Pimps song. Miriam vocals are mysterious and very experienced. The mix between the programming and real instrumentation and vocals is almost perfect. Fans of electronic music will enjoy Morsel as well as people who enjoy more traditional indie rock. The band enjoys taking chances on different arrangements and the listener is rewarded with a very diverse album that deserves some attention.
