I was teased last year with a little EP from this Detroit band and I have been awaiting a full length from Moods For Moderns ever since. Loud & Clear is their official debut album and it’s a cracker. They still sound like the Halifax scene despite their Detroit upbringing. I get a kick out of their bio where it states that the band has been very strict about not listening to any music prior to 1979. Moods for Moderns ends up with a superb power pop style that has been perfected with all their extensive touring. One look at the cover and you will think that these boys are made for the summer of love with their denim jackets and shaggy haircuts. It’s hard to believe that Moods for Moderns is just a three piece. They have such a full sound and a great base for songwriting already. The Halifax thing might not be too far fetched as they pay tribute to Canada with the track “So Long Canada. I would imagine that M for M must have quite a female following with their relationship based songs. Throw this on in your convertible this summer and watch the good times start rolling.
