Modest Mouse is known for releasing surprise collections and 2001 was no exception for this Washington State band. They released Sad Sappy Sucker which was a collection of very early recordings and now Everywhere and His Nasty Parlor Tricks hits the stands. This mid-priced disc contains 4 tracks from the out of print vinyl-only Night on the Sun EP, a reworking of some of the songs from Moon & Antarctica and three brand new slices of Modest Mouse music. Is it worth the $12? You bet your Sad Sappy ass! Modest Mouse material has always been quality material and this little collection is of no exception. If you were under the impression that Moon & Antarctica was their finest work yet then you will fully appreciate their Parlor Tricks. It’s not every band that can pull off releasing everything that they ever record. Some bands trash is just that but Modest Mouse scrapes up the cutting room floor and released a distinguished EP that fans will enjoy for years to come.
