It seems grimey, sloppily produced music that has become the production desire of many bands nowadays. Something about the return to the over-distortion of sound that pinches my cheekbone. It's not so much “sloppily” as it is jagged and downright edgy for it's purity. Crabe from the Montreal province of Quebec, Canada have a rawness that can be felt and enjoyed for all it's basic premise.
Another writer at wrote wrote, “snotty punk rock” and I couldn't agree more. Crabe sticks at you throughout this series of tracks with a ballsy, Rush like approach.. Straight for the razors edge on any bridge, the entire recording wreaks of Experi-Jazz/Metal or loosely termed Progressive rock. They combine the simplicity of distortion engineering.
After a full listen through, I'm not sure one song sticks out, though many have very memorable French-Canadian titles. How about we re-begin the album something a bit more familiar, “Bowling & Cocaine”. Nothing more than how most feel about an under-produced Nirvana track, there are some breaks from bridge-to-solo that have an impressive streak.
From there, everything that is titled in French-Canadian are the premier tracks here. Such as “Un Melange De Plumes Dans Ma Plante Carnivore”. Though the backbone to this song is very predictable and elementary, the complimentary hooks and trails are phenomenal and belong on all late College radio stations, right now.
With a tweaking of tracks like “En 1972 La Couleur Du Danger Etait Rouge Cardin..” these guys have a shot at building a large fanbase. A basic premise of metal (Helmet) with a funkier groove. I'm impressed and awaiting maturation from this bi-lingual Thrash act.
