The Messyheads have taken a bit of a turn from their last EP I’m No One. Say Something Stupid is a pure pop affair that borders on a dark side. The New York band is moving right along though. The Messyheads is basically a one many affair. John Connor wrote, arranged, produced and played almost all the instruments as well as provided vocals. This is quite a feat for one man. He actually rocks right out on “The Answer Is You (which is my favorite track on the EP) and almost sounds like an early 80’s new wave band. The production is a little on the poor side but I can let that slide considering the quality of the material here. The amazing thing about this record is that one man did it all. There are few who can do what John has accomplished with his Messyheads project. Again, what he needs is some college stations picking up his music, which would result in John getting some exposure as well as a shot at an indie label. This is a diverse effort and my only question is where does one go from here?
