If you have any liking whatsoever of latin percusion you must pay your respects and admirations to Carlos "Patato" Valdes. He is still playing today and he is well into his Seventies. His fingers are quicker than any youth ever picking up the congo drum and will remain a legend forever in the Cuban music books. This Six Degrees compilation was put together from two albums he recorded in 1995 and 96 in the series Ritmo y Candela which were both nominated for Grammies in the new Latin Jazz category. While there are other latin drummers on this recording you can instantly place Patato's as his drum style surrounds you and forces you to sway to the music. A great intro into latin percusive music and all from a legend too.
