It's been awhile since a great African album has hit my desk. According to my bio sheet that I received with the album he is one of the greatest musicians from Zimbabwe and this album shows us why. Tuku (his nickname), who is a hero in his native country with every album he releases going to number one, follows his Tuku Music album with an even better and more diverse example of African music. He has a very deep voice that everyone compares to Otis Redding and a knack for writing catchy waves of melodies. His charm lies in his ability to combine African styles such as mbira, mbanqangan, jit and traditional African Drumming to come up with a refreshing sound. He even manages to get some reggae rhythms in here and there. He is finally getting recognized here in North America due to his label, Putumayo, putting him on top of their priorities as well as high profile touring with African Fete and WOMAD.
